This past Saturday, I spent the day on the campus of MSU for Lisa and Matt’s wedding. It was a gorgeous day to get married and the event was just beautiful. We spent the morning with Lisa at the salon and had lunch with the guys at Lou & Harry’s, one of the couple’s favorite restaurants around campus. The ceremony was held at the Alumni Chapel on campus, which is this quaint little place right on the river. We took a walk around campus after the ceremony and took fun pictures at all the campus landmarks, then headed to the MSU Stadium, where the reception was held in the LaSalle Bank Club on the 4th floor. The details were simple and elegant – bright flowers on all the tables with pictures of New York landmarks on the Table #’s. Lisa and Matt live in NYC now, but came back to their alma mater for their big day! 🙂 It was a wonderful day and we had a great time! Thanks to Lisa and Matt and their family and friends for being so nice and so fun!

Here are a few moments and details from the day:

Congratulations, Lisa & Matt! SLIDESHOW coming soon!

why I love what I do

I got two of the sweetest emails yesterday. Made me smile (and laugh). 🙂

I heard from Reverend Brian, who was the officiant for Julie and Terry’s wedding last fall. He is such a nice guy. If you’re looking for someone to marry you, he does a wonderful job and will travel for weddings.

I laughed out loud when I read the first couple sentences of his message:

“I see you are busy as ever, and I couldn’t resist wandering through your website this morning. Please forward the 50 minutes time I spent daydreaming inside your website, back to me via email, as I need it back today.” 🙂

Such a funny guy!

I also got the nicest email from Holly’s mother, one of my brides from last year. She totally made my day with her sweet message.

“Krista, I just visited your blog and once again!!!!!!!!!! your wonderful photography/artwork shines!!

Kristin and Wil’s pics are great and I also enjoyed the other events you have recently covered!

Just a couple weeks ago, late at night, I should have been in bed, I just HAD to visit your website and watch Holly and Tim’s slide show again.

You are one terrificly, talented gifted person! God is certainly blessing you with talent!

Love ya and it was great to see you at yet another wedding

Deb S.”

If it weren’t for this business, I never would have met these wonderful people. It’s one of the coolest things about being a wedding photographer.

At Holly and Tim’s wedding last August, Kristin’s mom and sister Megan, whose wedding I photographed in 2005, told me that she had recently been engaged and that they would be calling me. I was so excited! I have shot the weddings of several of Megan’s friends and it’s been so fun to see so many of the same people over and over again. 🙂

Kristin and Will are an awesome couple! You can just see the love when they look at each other. I kept catching these sweet moments between the two of them when they didn’t know anyone was watching. They’re such a great looking couple, so easy to photograph!

Here are lots and lots of favorites that I chose to share from their wedding:

[ The wedding was held at the groom’s parents home under a tent with twinkle lights and candles and lots of bright flowers. It was beautiful. ]

[ Kristin’s dress was just gorgeous and she was the most beautiful bride. I love the little details on her veil. ]

[ the rings ]

[ the groom’s tux was awesome. white with black pin stripes. check out the throwing star behind the rose. all the groomsmen wore them, too. very unique. I’d love to hear the story behind those. ]

[ can you tell these two have been friends since they were kids? ]

[ two of my brides. Holly (August 2006) and Megan (August 2005). such beauties. so fun to see them both again. ]

[ dad’s pockets are empty now. good thing he doesn’t have any more daughters. ]

[ the ceremony ]

[ we did it! this was one of those moments I mentioned before. the matron of honor and best man were signing the marriage license and I caught this sweet snuggle. ]

[ the couple asked their guests to bring along their favorite desserts and the table was full of delicious treats. ]

[ this was loads of fun and entertainment for the kids … ]

[ … as well as the happy couple! ]

CONGRATULATIONS!!! So happy for you! Have fun in Jamaica!!!

flower girls

As I was going through the pictures from my last wedding, I came across this shot of the sweet flower girls entering the reception. I love photographing kids. They’re so fun and unpredictable and these girls were such cuties. Needless to say, there are lots of shots of them throughout the day! 🙂 I love the expression on her mom’s face as she joyfully raised her bouquet with a “Woohoo!”

Next up … Kristin and Will’s wedding this afternoon! 🙂

scrapbooking

I love scrapbooking! It’s something that I got into shortly after my son was born in 2000 and it’s one of the reasons I am a photographer today.

I have always been inspired by the photography in scrapbook magazines – people capturing the everyday moments in their lives especially – and it made me want to improve my photography and document my children’s lives in photos and scrapbooks. Now, I scrapbook about just about everything, including weddings.

Today, this month’s Digital Scrapbooking magazine arrived in my mailbox. A few months ago, I was notified that one of my wedding pages had been chosen for publication. Seeing this really brightened my day! 🙂

I made this page shortly after shooting Reem & Greg’s wedding in September of 2006. We had a great time at the wedding and I loved that they had belly dancers to share Reem’s heritage with their guests. Click here to see their slideshow.

heather’s bridal shower | bucyrus ohio event photographer

Drove to Ohio on Saturday with my mom and my daughter. My cousin is getting married this June to his sweet girlfriend, Heather, and this trip was for her bridal shower. We had a good time (despite the 4 hour car trip with a whiny 4 yr. old). 😉

Heathershower08

I’m so excited to photograph Heather and Brian’s wedding. One of the sweetest things was when they were trying to figure out what date to get married. The original date they wanted was June 9th, but I’ve been booked for that date with another couple for over a year. I was disappointed thinking I wouldn’t be able to be there, but they asked what dates I was still open that month and changed their date so I could be there to take their pictures. That was the HUGEST compliment to me. I’m so thankful for my family!
