a sweet valentine

I got the sweetest email today from Kelli, one of my 2006 brides.

Hi Kris,

It is Kelli. You shot my wedding June 17th, 2006 and I’m still having a blast with fun/special things to do with the AMAZING pictures you took! I made this Valentine’s Card for my Husband Dan and he just loved it! Your pictures brought back all those wonderful special moments between Dan and I on our wedding day. … I thought I would share it with you because it was made possible because of your fantastic talent!!!

Thanks again for being such a wonderful photographer and friendly person, one that I still feel comfortable emailing after almost 2 years!
Take Care and Happy Late Valentine’s Day 🙂
– Kelli

I love that I still have this connection with so many of the couples and families I’ve worked with. She totally made my week!!! 🙂

I emailed her back right away and thanked her for sharing with me and asked if it was OK if I shared her card here on the blog. Here is the card she made for Dan using their wedding pictures:

Her words on the card are really beautiful.

The front reads:
You are so much more than just my husband

Inside:
You are the face I can’t wait to see at the end of a long day ..
The arms I want wrapped around me when I’m feeling all alone in the world ..
and the only person in the universe that I’d ever want to spend the rest of my life with.

So sweet. Thanks so much for sharing, Kelli! 🙂

choosing your wedding date • valentines day

Something to keep in mind if you’re getting married in 2009 …

February 14th falls on a Saturday next year, which will make that date one of the most popular of 2009.

Book now to reserve your Valentines Day wedding before someone else snatches up the date! 😉

chloe’s birthday • bowling

Celebrated my daughter’s birthday today with a little family bowling. Aunts and grandparents and cousins joined us. The kids had so much fun! Here are a few pictures from today.

only a few more spots for 2008

Went through my calendar today updating things and I am almost completely booked for the year already! This is the fastest I have filled the calendar yet, which is exciting, but it means that I can’t photograph many more of your weddings and I’ve had to turn some people away because I’m already booked for their dates. 🙁

I still have some dates open in August and September, so if you are getting married in either of those months and would like me to be your photographer, please contact me as soon as you can to reserve your date.

Also, for those of you getting married in 2009, the calendar is open and I am now accepting commissions for 2009 dates. I book anywhere from 6 months to a year or more in advance so don’t hesitate to reserve your date now. And if you book your wedding photography now, you will lock in current 2008 pricing.

internet fun

Signed up with facebook a little while ago and it’s such a fun place for chatting with friends and networking. Click the link above and add me as your Facebook friend. 🙂

I also recently joined Flickr HERE. Not many pictures there yet, but if you have a Flickr account add me as one of your contacts and I’ll add you right back. 🙂 I love browsing through the endless pictures there. So much inspiration. I also like searching through people’s travel pictures. I found all sorts of great pictures of places in Germany that I went when we lived there but never took pictures of because all I had was a pathetic point and shoot. One day I will go back to Europe with my trusty SLR in hand and capture it like I wish I would have when I had the chance.

missing summer

Looking out my window at snow and bitter cold temps as I search my hard drive for pictures like this from last summer to warm me up. This is from my camping trip in July with my good friend Jen. Camped in Pentwater and took a little trip to Silver Lake to ride the sand dunes. It was a perfect day!

I hate winter, but I like this quote. And it totally applies to my life right now.

ida + eric • engagement 1.9.08

I don’t normally shoot engagements in January since I work outdoors for my sessions and you never know what the weather’s going to be like in winter. But when Eric’s mom called a while ago and asked if I would be willing to shoot her son’s engagement, I was up for it. She wanted to do something special for them before Ida went back to her home in Norway at the end of this week and this was the only time we could do it. Luckily, the weather cooperated and, although we didn’t have any snow like I was sort of hoping for (crazy Michigan weather!), we got some great shots. Such a sweet couple and they both have great smiles! 🙂 Here are a few favorites:
