Last Saturday’s wedding was SO wonderful. Brandi and Drew hired me without even meeting me. They planned their wedding long distance from where they live in Maryland. It was so great to finally meet them all these months later and spend the day with them and their loved ones.

Besides being really sweet people, they chose an amazing venue for their wedding – the Grand Rapids Art Museum. My first time shooting there and I absolutely loved it. The gorgeous pillars, high ceilings, and the art, of course. The ceremony took place in a long hallway with beautiful light pouring through the windows. And the featured artist this month was Ansel Adams. We took a few minutes to browse the gallery and were just in awe of his work.

I also want to share about my moment of clarity during the ceremony, one of those instances when you are aware of where you are and what you are doing. I was kneeling down in the middle of the aisle whiile the pastor spoke about Brandi & Drew and God’s amazing love. I was suddenly overcome with emotion as I listened to him and my eyes welled up a bit. I felt really blessed at that moment. To be able to share in so many peoples’ weddings, people I don’t really know, who have trusted me to capture their day for them. There I was in the middle of this beautiful, special wedding. I was totally filled up. I truly believe that each and every person that has ever chosen me to photograph their wedding has been hand picked by God. I’ve met so many wonderful families through this business and I’m blessed beyond words! I sometimes get so busy in the middle of wedding season that I lose focus on why I love this job. So I was really happy to get that reminder. I needed it!

OK, enough rambling … here are some pictures from Brandi & Drew’s big day!

[ Brandi – beautiful bride ]

[ the flowers ]

[ the cake – simple and elegant ]

[ Brandi – ready to round the corner and see Drew and her Dad for the first time ]

[ exchanging the rings ]

[ such a sweet moment – right after they walked down the aisle as husband and wife, they kissed and just looked at each other with that “we did it” look and then kissed again, of course ]

[ outside the museum – only for a few minutes in the scorching 90+ degree heat ]
