Here’s a little sneak peek of the location I had to work with on Sunday. Yeah, I know, it’s a hard life. ;) The park in Grand Ledge was gorgeous with lots of beautiful colors. So many of the leaves had fallen from the recent rain, but that just made it even prettier, like walking along golden paths. We went for a little hike along the river, by the ledges and across the train trestle. It was a lot of fun and we got some really great pictures that I’ll share very soon.

jeanine + burgess | sturgeon point lighthouse wedding

Jake and I traveled across the state last weekend for Jeanine & Burgess’s beautiful (rainy) outdoor wedding by the lake. It rained off and on all day long, but that didn’t stop everyone from coming out to celebrate and, though we were soaked and our equipment got pretty wet (thank God for the umbrellas we had in the car!), we had a great time spending the day with such wonderful people.

As soon as we arrived at Jeanine’s cute little cabin, where the reception tent was set up, I knew I was going to love this wedding. There were so many little touches and they went with a nature theme, which I adored. Little rocks from the nearby beach were painted with each guests name as their place card. Wood painted signs lead to the wedding and reception and a piece of driftwood served as guest book, which they planned to display in their cabin after the wedding. Her mom put together the adorable centerpieces. Debbie at Enchanted Blooms in Oscoda put together gorgeous flowers. I loved it all!

Of course, it was pouring rain when it was time to head to the lighthouse for the ceremony. They opened up the lighthouse so the bride could wait inside. The guests were ushered in to the sounds of bagpipes.

Burgess is in the Air Force and he looked handsome in his dress blues. I love this shot of Jeanine looking up at him as he looks at the pastor. One of my favorites!

Once we were back at the cabin for the reception, Burgess changed out of his dress uniform and into a suit. When the rain stopped for a few minutes, I stole them away for some more pictures. Love all of these!

The reception was a lot of fun. Everyone was dry under the tent and enjoyed a delicious dinner by Rob and his team from the Au Sable Inn in Oscoda followed by yummy pies from Judy’s Famous Pies.

Their first dance was awesome and they worked hard on their own choreography. :)

Congratulations, Jeanine & Burgess! I feel so blessed to have been a part of your wedding day. Can’t wait to share more pictures with you. Slideshow coming soon!

The wedding last weekend was amazing! Heidi and I had the best time. Reem & Greg are such great people and they really took care of us all day. I could go on and on about their wedding. It was a relaxed kind of day, which are always the best, full of laughter and love, family and friends from near and far (even some as far as the Middle East). We loved the whole day. I even experienced a couple of firsts for me … riding on a trolley and driving a golf cart. :) I think one of my favorite moments was when the couple was announced at the reception. The energy in the room was incredible and the guests clapped in a steady rhythm for several minutes, some even danced a bit. So, instead of going on and on … here are a few pictures from the day. I want to show them all but I will put more into a slideshow and post that soon, too. :) Here they are …

[ Beautiful Reem ]

[ lots of laughter during the ceremony ]

[ the kiss ]

[ the flowers were gorgeous ]

[ beautiful. I just had to comment on this one, too. this looks like a posed shot, but it is not. reem stood holding her flowers while the girls bustled her dress and I captured this shot. this is how I work. I am not one to pose people, it's not my style, and I will watch for shots like this throughout the day. :) ]

[ riding the trolley to the reception - so much fun! ]

[ I don't usually post many of the pictures from the family/bridal party picture time, but Reem & Greg are such a great looking couple, I couldn't resist. I love this one. Posed, but they still look relaxed and so happy. ]

[ the first dance ]

[ singing to each other. so sweet. ]

[ they even brought in belly dancers to show a little of Reem's heritage. it was really cool to watch. ]

[ love this moment. they were dancing away in a world of their own and I just happened to notice them move under the light. perfect. ]

Congratulations, Reem & Greg! Glad I didn’t run over you guys with the golf cart. :)

Jenny & Jim’s wedding yesterday evening was just perfect! An intimate gathering of their closest friends and family at a quaint little B&B in Saugatuck, MI. We had a great time and felt right at home among their guests. I knew when I first met Jenny & Jim that I would enjoy their wedding. They were so nice and easy to talk to. The kind of people you meet and feel like you’ve been friends forever.

Congratulations to the happy couple! :) So happy for you guys. Here are a few details from the day:

[ announcing Mr & Mrs Green ]

[ flowers. flowers. everywhere. they were absolutely gorgeous. the tables were lined with them. they really made the place look beautiful. ]

[ loved jenny's dress. so simple and elegant. perfect for her. ]

[ such a nice setting for a wedding. a cute little B&B. a tent in the yard. outdoor ceremony. lovely. ]

[ the happy couple during the best man's speech. ]
