photography fills me up. brings me joy. your wedding + my camera = happy me.

casual. candid. real. these are words I often use to describe my style of photography, capturing things naturally, as they happen, documenting your wedding day in a quiet, unobtrusive way. that's the heart of my work.

I’ve been waiting in anticipation for Janna + Dan’s sweet little guy to be born so I could celebrate the wonderful addition to their family with some pictures! I photographed their engagement and wedding and I love that I get to keep in touch with my wedding couples and document their lives as they become a sweet little family.

Here are some of my favorites. Didn’t I say he was a sweetie? So adorable.

so tiny! I love the tri-fold frame in the corner displaying lots of pictures from their engagement and wedding. so fun to see that!

oh my goodness, I love that little smile!

Love this one of father & son. His face is so funny in the shot on the right. He didn’t much care for us stripping him down to his birthday suit. ;)

    Isn’t his nursery adorable?

    peek a boo!

The best little Christmas gift ever!

    Merry Christmas!

2009 for me can be summed up in one word. Change!

Some of you already know my husband lost his job a few years ago and we have been without steady income since then. I know many of you can relate to this as you find yourselves in a similar situation this year. It’s truly been a time of trusting God and holding onto what is most dear – each other, our children, our family.

It’s been a long road. We have prayed for things to turn around and I’m happy to share that God has finally answered our prayers. Jake was recently hired in to a wonderful company in the publishing industry. Just the kind of job he always dreamed of having after working in a factory for far too many years. We are beyond happy and so thankful to God for getting us through.

Though the past few years have been difficult personally, I have been so blessed by all of you who I have had the privilege to work with. All of your weddings, engagements, families, and babies have given me so much joy in a time when it seemed there was little to be happy about. I have said it before and I’ll say it again … you are all AMAZING. I have worked with the BEST people in this little business of mine. I’ve had such fun and been a part of so many sweet moments that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Thank you all for allowing me to step into your lives if only for a day and soak up all of your happiness and joy! You’ve truly kept me going through it all.

Now, as we take time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we’re giving thanks and looking forward to the year ahead and what God has in store for us!

Merry Christmas and may 2010 be full of blessings!
    Lots of Love,
    Kris

After the Bechler family pictures, we stayed at the park and did a session of just Brad & Amanda + their sweet baby boy Landon. Poor Landon was such a grumpy little guy, but he’s just so cute. Here are some favorites. :)

    the bechler family

Last weekend, I had a fun time with the Bechler family, who I’ve known for many years. I love all of them so much and it was great to be able to take some family pictures for them. Here are a few favorites. :)

sara + darrell | grand ledge engagement pictures

I had so much fun with Sara and Darrell last weekend in Grand Ledge. The colors were at their peak and made for some gorgeous pictures. The ledges along the river are so cool. There were lots of rock climbers out that day taking advantage of the rock walls. We also braved the railroad trestle just after a train went across. Crazy? Yes, but fun! If a train had come through, it would have been like this scene from Stand By Me. ;) Here are some of my favorites from our afternoon together.

Can’t wait for the wedding next May! :)

Here’s a little sneak peek of the location I had to work with on Sunday. Yeah, I know, it’s a hard life. ;) The park in Grand Ledge was gorgeous with lots of beautiful colors. So many of the leaves had fallen from the recent rain, but that just made it even prettier, like walking along golden paths. We went for a little hike along the river, by the ledges and across the train trestle. It was a lot of fun and we got some really great pictures that I’ll share very soon.
